New Maps

Post by hackish » Wed Oct 09, 2013 11:16 pm

Ever wonder why the car won't go very fast when you're low on fuel??? Fuel light came on the other day and the car went from being stock slow to ride-on lawnmower slow... Here is why:

Can also do units so you can tune in whatever you're comfortable with. Neuton Meters, Foot Pounds, it could even do stone-hands if you really wanted to figure out the conversion formula!

So does this effectively mean that without these values changed at some point, you would be restricting torque even with a full tank?

Yes. The car was not expected to make more than that limited amount of torque so there are a number of items you need to change to increase beyond a level.

This Ecu has various tables to limit torque based on different inputs like Oil temp and coolant temp, brake pedal position and there should be a few more that I haven't found. I couldn't go past 22 psi on my tune at first because there where map limitations and the car would limit it self " the ecu detected a shorted signal to live wire condition =map pegged at its limit for more than what the ecu allows in its denounce timers." Modified that and I still couldn't get past 22 psi. Then I found the torque limiter tables and changed those, then I could boost 23+ with out the ecu going into limp or fuel cut.

Yes, the ECU has the idea that based on a certain rpm and MAP amount that translates to an airflow, which is limited. Then airflow translates to an amount of torque which again is subject to more limits. Some tuners just adjust the torque table so the ECU believes it is making less torque than it is but ultimately this is not a good choice as any significant changes make items like the cruise control and AC behave differently. IE cruise stops working and the idle goes funny when the AC compressor turns on.

Added the fuel injector size constant. This should help a lot in changing your injector size.
